This study aims to learn which obesity medications are most effective and safest for long-term weight loss and other outcomes that are important to diverse, real-world populations.
Our study has two parts: We will use electronic health record data from a large national research network (PCORnet) to study health outcomes of over 300,000 patients prescribed any of six different medications. We will study patients taking these medications for obesity and/or for diabetes. We will also conduct a survey of adults who have previously taken or currently take obesity medicine (OM) to learn more about their health outcomes, barriers to treatment, and experience with starting and stopping OMs has been.
We are looking for patient stakeholders who could join a 2-hour meeting (online) with other patient stakeholders to provide feedback on our study design and goals, including which outcomes we should examine and what questions we should ask patients in our survey.
Patient partners who have had experience with seeking medication treatment for obesity (any medication) or seeking type 2 diabetes treatment with GLP1-RA medication such as Ozempic.
